Without my contacts I am blind as a bat. Literally!
I can't see the numbers on the alarm clock if it's a foot in front of my face. So naturally, I've been considering Lasik/PRK/IOLs for quite a number of years now, I've just been waiting for my eyes to stop changing.
Well, low and behold, I went for an eye checkup yesterday and my eyes have stabilized! The OD's only concern prior to sending me for a Lasik consultation was the thickness of my cornea.
WOW, am I excited now!! And, as is my luck, the darn machine that takes the measurement wasn't and wouldn't hold a charge, GRRR!
So, now I will stop back in this Thursday and have my corneas measured, still excited!!
I also found out that prior to the consult you cannot wear contacts for 14 days to let your eyes regain their normal shape. This is horrible for me in that I despise glasses, don't own glasses, and constantly feel as though I am walking in a hampster ball when wearing glasses.
....This morning, I go to get glasses.
I hope, hope, hope that I am a candidate for vision correction of some sort! Preferable some sort that won't cost me $4000 an eye though!
